Mythological stories strive to connect their listeners to the world around them, using narrative and wonder to help individuals understand where they fit in the natural world and feel connected to their communities. Myths of the past continue to be passed on today, but unfortunately come inseparably packaged with cultural artifacts no longer suited to todays modern society. So what is today's mythology? What themes and stories do we tell to gain a feeling of connection to each other and the universe in which we find ourselves? How can our expanding scientific knowledge drive our enchantment with the natural world and grow our empathic interests toward our fellow humans? Rob's work explores these questions visually.
Originally from a suburb north of Chicago, Rob studied Illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design. He received the “Best in Show” award in the National Oil & Acrylic Painters' Society's 2013 annual Best of America exhibition. His work has also been chosen as finalists in four recent Art renewal Center Salons, including an “Honorable Mention,” has appeared in four volumes of the annual book, “Spectrum, The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art,” and has received a Silver Award from the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles.
